- Using a GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) for generating unique IDs is generally safe. However, using only the first 8 characters of the GUID reduces its uniqueness significantly. A GUID is 128 bits long, and truncating it to 8 characters (32 bits) drastically increases the likelihood of collisions.

- Use the entire GUID if possible to ensure uniqueness.
- If you need a shorter unique identifier, consider using a more collision-resistant approach like a cryptographic hash function.
